remember prom?

so this girl in school is friends with my friend, i have a kind of attraction to her. we talk very rarely because both her and i are quiet people. but when she is with my friend she blooms and talks a lot. my friend is her friends gf. so today we were on class and her i my frienf and two other friends were put in a group. and the whole time the group was talking. and she asks me and another friend who dont have dates if we have asked grls to prom yet, and to ease the judgement a bit we just calmy say no. even though we dont have anyone close enough to ask. and she says it is a good idea to start asking because the girl would be stressed if u waited too long. and we say there is no one to ask. then she starts naming off people for my friend to ask, but none for me to ask. my take on it is that she may want me to ask her, or she is waiting for another guy to ask her. idk.. i need some womens opinion on this. i know "results may vary" but i need a general opinion on this. thanks...
