Is it better to look pale white or fake tan in summer?

I got tired of people asking me if I ever get any sun since I'm always pale. I wear sunscreen so I don't suffer with sunburn. Today, I tried a fair skin self tanner cream specifically for people with pale skin so you don't look orange after application. But it looked orangish to me, and it streaked on my neck and arms.

I figure I'll continue to look pale white since that probably looks better than streaks? I just wish people would stop making comments about my pale skin.

it's much better to look pale. and when you are older and look 10 years younger than everyone who spent their youth tanning, you'll be glad.
