Okay. I read your update. Well, if you want her to ask you, then say something like "I really want to go to the school dance next Friday, how about you?" Or "The school dance next week sounds like fun. What do you think?" I do not think a new student will think of asking you unless you hint at it like that.

she might be too shy to ask you. listen to the other advice, it's good. but even if she doesn't ask you after you hint at it, it doesn't necessarily mean she doesn't like you. just be kind. girls do like that, i swear.

just say "so, are you going to the dance next friday?" if she says no, just say "me neither...well, not yet- no one has asked me." hopefully if she wants to ask you, she will. although she might feel too shy. and if it comes down to it, you can say "listen, i know it's supposed to be girl's choice, but i was just wondering if you would want to ask me to the dance."

I just want to add that she might not know the girl is the one who should do the asking. She might expect you to ask her. I never paid attention to school dances so I would have no idea whether the girl or guy was supposed to ask.

First say, "So, are you going to the dance with some one?" If she says "Yes." Then you say, "Cool." but if she say "No." Then you can say, "Maybe we could go together." If she says something like, "Are joking?" or "No." then you could say something, "Oh, no, I being wasn't serious I was kidding, sorry." But if she says "Yes." Then you say "Cool, see you then!"
