Do you think this person was being petty and mean? |

I am a lady who works in the same office as another lady and we are both originally from towns about 25 miles apart in a state nearly three thousand miles away from where we live now. I happen to mention to her today that it is amazing that we work in the same office and we were born in nearby towns. She responded by saying that she recently ran into someone else at a shopping center or something, who used to live two blocks away from her. She said that she considered that a lot more amazing. She then replied that "you didn't live two blocks from me." I felt very offended like she was trying to tell me something. I just thought what she said sounded crazy and now I don't even feel like speaking to her when I see her. She could have just said "yeah, it is amazing", instead of acting like it was some contest between me and someone else. What is your reaction? |

harleygirl:I think her comment was a bit rude, but I would just let it go. Both stories are amazing, but the second one is a little bit more amazing. She may have turned it into a contest, which was unnecessary. If that's how she is, then just steer clear of her.

sweetone:She just might not know how to use words right. She probably still thought your story was amazing, but she meant to say "Guess what?! Can you believe someone else lived even closer than you?"

she may have been a little less than graceful, but i don't think it's a big deal.
