Derek is nice, but he doesn't respect?

0

Derek and I have been together for seven years. He gets me what I need monetary wise, but he doesn't listen to me at all. He doesn't respect my opinions or listen to my problems about our relationship. If I disagree with him, he calls me stupid or childish. I feel like I have been mentally abused for along time. We have a baby together and we live in Memphis, TN. Should I move to Mississippi and make a new life for my children and I or should I stay?

If you don't value yourself as a person and all you require is a roof over your head, then stay. If you don't care about the example you're setting for your children, that women are to be disregarded, you should definitely stay. If you have sons, they will learn to treat women the same way. I put up with a financially abusive husband for 21 years, and I finally decided I'd rather be poor on my own and at least I'd be happy. Four months after my divorce, I met my new and improved husband and he's amazing. No one should have to stay in a situation that's unhealthy, especially if there are children involved. If you have an option you can see working for you, please take it. You can't imagine how good it feels to get out. It's like breathing pure oxygen. And make sure you get child support! They put deadbeat dads in jail these days.

don't stay with someone who treats you like that. taking care of someone monetarily doesn't give them the right to mistreat you. start a new life where your kids won't have to grow up thinking that's how you are supposed to treat people or be treated.
